Private Party in Cartagena Beaches
Cartagena is a captivating city that offers the best of both worlds: Colonial-style architecture, Old Town streets with lovely balconies overflowing with flowers, luscious vacation rentals, delectable cuisine, and beautiful beaches with crystal-clear turquoise waters. This Colombian city is perfect for singles, couples, romantic partners, groups of friends and families.
Whether you prefer to relax on the beach or enjoy the energy of Cartagena’s many nightlife options, you’ll love its unique atmosphere. You can explore museums and historic churches, take carriage rides, eat at gourmet restaurants, or take in the vibrant Caribbean music and dancing, but the real magic is on the beach.
You’ll find a wide variety of beaches around Cartagena, including pristine islands, private beaches for hotel guests only, and lively beach clubs. Choose from the list below to find a beach that fits your travel style and personality.
If you’re looking for a relaxing and peaceful beach, I recommend the gorgeous and very quiet Playa Hollywood, located in Bocagrande. This beach is a favorite for locals who want to spend a day relaxing without being pestered by tourists and vendors. This swath of sandy beach is also great for walking, swimming and tanning, although the water isn’t as clear and idyllic as on other Cartagena beaches.
A more lively option is Blue Apple Beach Club on Isla Tierra Bomba, which is inspired by the beach clubs of Ibiza and the South of France. The music is loud and the vibe is more energetic, with a lot of fun people. It can be a little noisy on weekdays, but the crowds are much less than at some other beach clubs in the city.
On the other end of the spectrum is Acasi, a private beach that’s reserved exclusively for hotel guests of Casa San Agustin. This is a true escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. This secluded spot is on the other side of the island from Cholon, so you can avoid the crowds. This gorgeous spot has a stunning beach, shaded cabanas, lounge spaces, and even hammocks in the trees. You can enjoy Cartagena’s classic cuisine, such as lobster empanadas and seafood paella next to the turquoise water, while sipping sparkling wine or beer.
Lastly, you can go to the Pink Sea (officially known as Salinas Galirazambas) to see its unique pink color, resulting from the high concentration of salt and microalgae producing beta carotene. This unique beach is about 1 hour from Cartagena, and it’s possible to get there on your own or via a tour.
There are several ways to get to the Pink Sea, but I’d recommend hiring a private boat for a day trip from Cartagena. This is the quickest and easiest way to see this amazing place, plus it gives you the flexibility to make a stop at one of the other Cartagena’s fantastic beaches on the route. You can even add in a visit to the dormant Volcano Mud (where you’ll be able to soak in mud from the active crater), which is a unique and unusual experience that only a few travelers have had the opportunity to try!
